Help Support the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge
The Merritt Island Wildlife Association’s purpose is to promote conservation, awareness, and appreciation of the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge and to provide assistance to Refuge Programs.
As federal budgets get smaller each year for resource agencies, organizations such as MIWA play an increasingly larger role in providing support for activities and programs that otherwise would not take place.
We would like to assure you, any funds received will be used to supplement MIWA’s annual funding of the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. This funding provides support for programs and projects at the MINWR such as Environmental Education, Interns, the Junior Ranger Program, Volunteer support, construction of sites such as Sendler Education Outpost and the Black Point Wildlife Drive restrooms and Observation Deck.
MIWA also helps fund community outreach and supports many of the programs offered to visitors at the Visitor Center, such as hands on reptiles and alligator programs. Through the generosity of our donors and grants, MIWA was able to purchase a 15 passenger tour bus for MINWR, so that visitor may experience a narrated guided tours of our beautiful refuge.
Please help us in our endeavors to support the Merritt Island National Refuge. Without you, the refuge would not be able to continue many of its programs and projects. Together, we can keep the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge a special place for all to enjoy.
